Battle Dog
Webcomic
Completely adorable and yet action-packed at the same time, this webcomic features illustrations that are simple but stunning. They style reminds one of Adventure Time and Doctor Cat, and its creators--Andrew Duff and Matt Cummings--are busy setting this comic apart from the typical "inheriting one's powers and going on an adventure of self-discovery" theme. Battle Dog leaves a lot of room for creative expansion, and Wyra might just steal your heart!

Newgrounds
Art, Music, Games, and Animations
From the hilarious to the somber, from action-packed to music-based, Newgrounds is a hub of animated activity. Its unique position as host site for mainly animated material, along with music, art, and games by up-and-coming innovators, has led it to play a key role in the animation community and offer specialized services that other sites cannot. Newgrounds hosts many different competitions; content is allowed onto (and banned from) the site through community voting; memes are born; collaborations are made; and animators, artists, and musicians are able to shape their reputation and become Newgrounds celebs. Not to mention that Newgrounds offers content from all spectrums, from the novice to the expert and from the "general audience" to "adults only" (thus my recommended "18 or older"). Of course, a great Newgrounds feature is its ratings, ranging from "E" to "A", which can be found on the corner of the submission and therefore give the viewer ample warning. Technicalities aside, Newgrounds is the place to go if you're looking for something unique, inspiring, artistic, and just fun!
*Some content not suitable for younger viewers.

Johnny Wander
Webcomics
If you like Scott Pilgrim, great webcomics, and a fantastic series of "slice of life" comics, Johnny Wander has got you covered! Not only does his site feature strips about everyday circumstances, but it also has endearing "shorts" like "Delilah and the Basilisk" and "The Girl With the Skeleton Hand." Not to mention the longer--and dare I say, exponentially more humorous--"Lucky Penny", whose Scott Pilgrim-esque feel only serves to enhance a story that sets itself apart as unique and quirky. And don't forget to check out all of the merch in the Johnny Wander store; everything has an appealing and simplistic design aesthetic that may clean out your wallet if you're not too careful!

Monsterkind
Webcomic
Monsterkind addresses societal issues that we are all-too-familiar with, using strained relations between monsters and humans as a framework for its main story. It focuses on human Wallace Foster, who is a social worker recently relocated to a different district where monsters are more prevalent. The comic follows his attempts to fit in amongst the monster community, and how he experiences the same troubles that monsters face in the more "human-geared" districts. Author Taylor C. combines lovely, likeable illustrations with a well-thought-out storyline, and the result is a webcomic that still has secrets to reveal and stories to tell. If your heart isn't made of stone, you're sure to love the cast of monster characters and Foster as well, and think more deeply about the differences that divide us.

Saint for Rent
Webcomic
What sets Saint for Rent apart from regular webcomics is its use of animated panels. Seamlessly integrated with the standard comic formatting, it creates a reading experience that is richer and more enticing than the average story. Combine that with a plot that is intriguing and leaves the reader wanting more, and you've got a fantastic story. The illustration style is sometimes reminiscent of the manga Ristorante Paradiso, and uses a dazzling mix of simple linework and more complex details. While time traveling may not be an "everyday" topic, it's portrayed almost as relatable, and certainly from an angle that time travel isn't often explained. A must-see for webcomic enthusiasts.
